Awww, but think about it you guys, what would we do without the headaches or moments of wtfery brought to us by the drama sobbing queens? What would we mock? We'd be left with nothing! Nothing but peace of mind and avoidance of silly internet battles I say!

XD, Oh Kae, I laughed when you said this entry was coming and I am even more amused now that it has come. I mean, really, I love owning fanlistings and they're fun to maintain (not so much to join IMO, considering owners have a tendency to NOT TELL YOU when the listing has moved/changed owners/whatever and you end up with 500 dead links), but if I died inside every time I was rejected for a fanlisting I'd be ashes and dust by now. So you didn't get xxx, now the world has ended and the other ten or twenty or thirty fanlistings you own mean nothing? It's a list of people. What a loss. The entire reason they're fun is because they're frivolous little things featuring things you like.

Anyway, I agree - the people who do this stuff are probably very nice, but their reactions over such a small, meaningless thing as who got a fanlisting that will be linked at a network are just ridiculous.

By the way, the styling you gave the blockquote in your entry makes it REALLY hard to read. It gave me headaches just trying. XD Can you make the text bigger?

Merry Christmas to you too, dear, and thanks for the plug. :) I understand what you mean about moral obligations regarding blogging; often times I feel like I have to because to me it's like, once you build a blog there's something like a moral contract promising you'll update it. I don't know, it's weird. With fanlistings it's kind of automatic because you've got the scripts to do it for you, and with LiveJournal that feeling is also nonexistent. Oi. XD

P.S. The fanlisting for The Rolling Stones is open for application. ♥ Apply for it, I say!

Dear, you kind of ARE following my advice. Trusted friends are one thing, complete strangers are another (yay for picky-ness). I know I sound utterly paranoid, but...

And yes, you've been a terrible webmistress, abandoning your baby like that! Shame, shaaaaaaaame! Haha, I kid, I post once every ten days or so myself. I don't know why I have a blog, it's not like I do anything especially interesting.

Aaaaaanyway. I haven't checked out your guide for Linux, but I'm sure it's fabulously kind and stands out from the snobby crap everyone else seems to produce. Best of luck with your other projects!

Thought provoking entry. Well done.

I always thought that the "Everyone is special and unique!" phrase was a bit ironic, since we are all then linked by our specialness and uniqueness. You know what's odd? If we're all so very special and unique, how are stereotypes and cliques formed? You sort of dealt with it in your post, but the answer is still foggy (to me).

Of course, I do think everyone is rather unique. Mindsets, personalities, skills and interests - there will always be someone out there who shares at least one of your traits, but how many people are an exact match to you? There are billions of people in this world, and yet I'd still say that chance is slim. Some people may come close, but there will always be that difference, big or small.

Anyway, I never really thought about elitists in that fashion; I just wrote them off as arrogant, self serving people that like to give themselves the benefit of the doubt and say "I'm better than you!" The reason as to why... I didn't really care. XD

P.S. I about had a heart attack, because my computer restarted right before I submitted this. Thankfully, Firefox saved it. I LOVE YOU FIREFOX!!!

My whole issue with the 'I am special' mentality of so many people today is that they believe they are special by virtue that they are merely them. What ever happened to confidence that comes from achievement or accomplishment? Now, it's empty self-confidence and people no longer respect hard word.

Could be the jaded public school in me speaking, though.
